Friday, February 19.

GUIDED TOUR WITH DOCENT

We have arranged for a tour with docent which will begin at 10:15 am and continue for 1 ½ hours, walking through magnificent gardens, learning about bonsai arrangements, resting and relaxing, and even having some time to wander through the gift shop.

Admission

The cost for a senior or a member of our group would be $11.72 (Includes tax) which would be paid at the door upon entry. You do not have to sign up before, although that would be most helpful to us in case of any changes.

DINING OPTIONS

The open-air cafe on the terraces overlooks the tranquil gardens and serves a Pan-Asian inspired menu from 11 am to 3 pm. Special arrangements can be made for 15 or more. There is also an air-conditioned area.

The Cafe serves a variety of appetizer items such as sweet potato tempura for $4.25, miso soup for $1.95, cold tofu for $3.25, house salad of mixed greens at $2.95, vegetable gyoza which are 8 pieces of vegetable and tofu dumplings at $4.95, and even 2 egg rolls with for $3.50. There are sushi rolls ranging in price from $4.00-5.95, with a variety from california roll, fresh salmon roll, tempora shrimp rolls and more. Dessert and beverages are also available. We have found that the soup, salad, and dumplings or sushi make a lovely lunch.

They have a paid in advance bento box lunch which costs $16. There is a charm about this luncheon, BUT it is expensive, must be paid in advance, and there is no refund.

DIRECTIONS

Upon exiting from Century Village, turn RIGHT to the Turnpike heading south. Continue to Exit 81, Atlantic Avenue. Turn LEFT at West Atlantic, 806W, and RIGHT at Carter Rd/Jog Rd. RIGHT turn on Morikami Park Rd and continue to entrance. Maximum driving time should be 40 minutes. We suggest carpooling to increase socialization and save gas.

Address: 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach, Florida, 561 495-0233 www.morikami@pbcgov.com

RSVP

The Morikami needs to know the number of those attending, especially if people are staying on for lunch, so they can reserve an area for us. Please contact one of the coordinators listed below if you plan to join, and if you plan to stay on for lunch.

# Passover is in the works. As soon as the information becomes available, I will contact everyone.

# A note of clarification. Please do not send me a list of people to add on to the Boomer email list. Everyone must email me individually. The Boomer list is for activity information directly from me and may not be used by anyone else or for any other purpose. No solicitations or other informationals are acceptable. Use the Boomer Blog to post and put any information you wish for other Boomers.

I have been checking my Florida phone every couple of days and I am calling potential Boomers back. However, Boomers must have access to email if they want information. Delray Beach Art Festival Sunday, Jan. 17

Pat and Larry have arranged a wonderful day for you which I know will be great.  Here is your Boomer Event:

One of the finest art festivals we have ever attended is the Delray Beach Art Festival. This year it is on Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17, from 10am to 5pm. For this event, let's attend on Sunday, Jan. 17. Arrive at the Festival whenever you would like on Sunday, but give yourself enough time to wander along Atlantic Avenue toward the Beach admiring the paintings, photography, objects d'art, sculpture, jewelry, art glass, etc. and perhaps nip into the galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and ice cream parlors that line both sides of Atlantic Avenue. Entrance to the Festival is FREE.

Then: Meet us at 4:30 (sharp--another large group is arriving at 6pm) at Cafe Provence, 4967 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, for a delicious Continental meal, cooked and served by the family who own this comfortable and attractive restaurant. Most dinners $12.99. Separate checks available--cash only.

Directions: South on I95 to Atlantic Ave and go East on Atlantic for a few minutes. When you approach the Tennis Center, and can't go any further, park in one of the parking garages or find a space on a side street.
